| A special anime program will be held during Spring Break, March 12th - 16th, at 2 p.m. each day. The library will provide popcorn and soda, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own snacks.
Note: On days with programs rated PG-14 and higher, the TV-PG program will air first, for the convenience of the younger members of our group.
Monday the 12th Chance Pop Session [TV-PG] (Episode 1 &2) It's anime all the way when three young girls meet at a music concert given by their idol and pledge to become pop stars in their own right. They enroll together at their idol's university and are assigned together in a special class for overachievers. The girls face the rigors of school and the social life, all the while hoping they can stay together long enough to propel themselves and each other to superstardom.
Yumeria [TV-14] (Episodes 1 &2) Teenager Mikuri Tomokazu has a strange dream in which he sees a young girl battling her enemies. In the dreamscape, Tomikazu possesses a mysterious power and transfers it to the girl, who then quickly repels her foes. When Tomokazu wakes up, he finds the girl (named Mone) sleeping next to him. With both the fate of the dream and the real world threatened, the teen sets out (aided by five high school hotties) to fulfill his heroic destiny.
Tuesday the 13th Cyberteam in Akihabara [TV-PG] (Episodes1 & 2) Chronicles the exploits of Hibari, a teenager who receives an unusual gift from a prince: It's a PataPi -- a toy robot with astonishing magical properties. Before long, however, Hibari discovers that a mysterious stranger wants to get his hands on the mechanical pet. Recruiting a team of other PataPi owners, Hibari sets out to unmask the dastardly would-be thief.
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World [TV-MA Edited] (Episodes1 & 2) Bemused teenager Takeru is beginning to feel despondent about life when he happens upon the beautiful Hikari, a girl who literally falls from the stars. Riddled with a murky past and looking toward an even darker future, Hikari unknowingly leads Takeru and his friends down a dangerous path -- one by which unsuspecting Takeru will come to learn how cruel the world really can be.
Wednesday the 14th Get Backers [TV-PG] (Episodes 1 & 2) Imagine returning to find your home broken into. Your possessions thrown around. Dresser drawers ransacked. Everything you own having the unmistakable feel of a stranger’s fingers on them. The only thing worse than that is what isn’t there: the things that once belonged to you that have been taken by creeps. But now is not the time to despair. There’s no time for anger. There’s only time to call Ban and Ginji. They’re the Get Backers, and they live by a simple motto: “If it was taken, we’ll get it back.” No one will be refused. (At least not until that huge tab they’ve run up gets paid off!)
Utawarerumono [TV-PG] (Episodes 4 & 5) Hakuoro has lost his memory after succumbing to serious injuries; but thanks to a elderly woman and her granddaughter Eruruu, he is nursed back to health. His face is covered by a strange irremovable mask and he occasionally sees beastly visions. Eruruu now cares for him as he becomes accustomed to the village and its inhabitants who all bear strange ears (the women have tails too). Though these people venerate the forces of nature, desecration of an alter forces them to take drastic measures to preserve their lives from the wrath of Mutikapa-sama, guardian of the forest.
Thursday the 15h Paniponi Dash! [TV-PG] (Episodes 1 & 2) Good news? She’s an MIT grad.Bad news? She’s an 11-year-old MIT grad. So while Becky Miyamoto may be intellectually able, this MIT prodigy is painfully ill-equipped to deal with a group of temperamental teens, especially THIS group. There’s the ADD spazz, the angry nerd, the identical twins, the invisible girl, the freaky class president, the drama geek, the Nancy Drew, the gamer, the princess… whew!
UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie [TV-MA] (Episodes 1 &2) Soon after her spaceship crash-lands into a Japanese bathhouse, a princess named Valkyrie saves the life of the establishment's teenage manager, Kazuto, and unwittingly transforms herself into an 8-year-old! Of course, the fact that she's dependent on Kazuto for just about everything makes searching for an antidote to her condition all the more difficult.
Friday the 16th Shadow Skill [TV-PG] (Episodes 1 &2) Warrior Elle "Shadow Skill" Ragu may be talented enough to join the ranks of the Sevalle, an elite breed of fighters, but her martial arts mastery doesn't seem to make life any easier. Set in the land of Kuruda, this anime follows the fearless redhead as she battles demon beasts, keeps assassins and enemy invasions at bay, teaches little brother Gau Ban to be a great warrior ... and tries to find a way to pay off her drinking debts.
Guyver [TV-14] (Episodes 1 & 2) One of the first anime series to catch on in the United States, "Guyver" -- the tale of a boy, Sho, who stumbles on an out-of-this-world suit of armor and becomes swept up in an interstellar war -- is back. Director Katsuhito Akiyama breathes new life into the classic series with exciting action sequences as Sho struggles to evade an army of bio-monsters determined to retrieve Chronos Corp.'s most dangerous weapon -- the magic suit of bio-armor. |
